Project Overview

This project focuses on repairing LED/LCD TV panels using a bonding machine to fix COF (Chip-on-Film) and TAB (Tape Automated Bonding) connections for Zopper & Assurant. The objective is to provide a cost-effective alternative to full panel replacement by restoring faulty display connections, reducing e-waste, and ensuring high-quality performance.

Challenges

1. Precision in COF & TAB Bonding
(i) Alignment must be exact to restore proper display function.

(ii) Excess heat can damage fragile COF chips.

2. Difficulty in Identifying Micro-Level Faults
(i) Microscopic disconnections in ribbon cables can be hard to detect.

(ii) Requires high-resolution microscopes and testing tools.

3. Compatibility Issues with Different Panel Brands
(i) Each TV brand and model has unique COF bonding layouts.

(ii) Requires custom ACF bonding settings for each type.

4. Risk of Panel Damage During Repair
(i) The LCD/LED panel is extremely fragile and can crack under pressure.

(ii) Requires anti-static handling and proper clamping techniques.

Challenges

1. Rebonding Quality & Long-Term Durability
(i) Poor bonding can lead to recurring display failures.

(ii) Requires high-quality ACF material and controlled pressure application.

2. Time-Consuming Process for Bulk Repairs
(i) COF/TAB bonding is a manual, delicate process.

(ii) Requires automation and skilled technicians for efficiency.

3. Challenges in Replacing Faulty COF Chips
(i) Some COF chips are not readily available, leading to sourcing issues.

(ii) Requires testing multiple connections before deciding on replacement.

4. Customer Expectations for Long-Term Fixes
(i) Clients like Assurant require warranty-backed repairs.

(ii ) Ensuring consistent repair quality across multiple panels.
